Minimalist Task of the Day:

If you are looking to scale down on your number of possessions, these daily tasks should be a great help to you. Get started now:

  • Set your timer for 30 minutes. Sort through a section of your house deciding what to keep and what to part with. Place unwanted items in the appropriate box – donate, yard sale, eBay, or recycle. Trash goes in the trash can.
  • Photograph any non-consumable items that you intend to keep and file the snapshots in a folder on your computer. Because it takes a bit of time to photograph and file an item, you might choose to keep less items. Keeping an item means more work in your daily life as well. Ridding of an item means less to clean and less to take care of. You’ll also have record of your belongings for insurance purposes (if ever needed).
  • Today is the day to file away paperwork. Go grab your pile and start photographing it to convert it to electronic form. Then you can throw out that pest of a mess. I choose to photograph my paperwork instead of scanning it. It seems to be a lot quicker. Now organize the photos by date in your computer (see my example below). I have a lot of receipts that I need to keep due to my business, so I make folders for each company I deal with to keep things organized. That’s it for today!
